Oncology Support GroupsPatient Support Groups and Programs 2005The following is a list of monthly support groups and programs held at various locations throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. If you are interested in attending a program, please call in advance to register and confirm the time, date and location. They often have many questions that can only be answered by one who has experienced and survived a cancer diagnosis. Person To Person was developed to offer emotional support and encouragement on a one-to-one basis to those who are newly-diagnosed by volunteers who have survived the cancer experience and are now leading full, happy lives. In the Looking Glass With side effects that range from hair loss to fatigue, cancer treatment can take its toll on a person both emotionally and physically. But knowing how to offset these side effects can make a marked difference in a person's life. This workshop, presented by the Fox Chase Virtua Health Cancer Program in collaboration with the Cancer Foundation for Personal Wellness, will demonstrate some of the latest techniques in skin care and hair replacement for men and women in active treatment. Breast Cancer Support Group Any woman diagnosed with breast cancer is invited to join this open-ended support group. Women can participate at any time during or after treatment for support, information and sharing. The group is facilitated by a social worker and a clinical nurse specialist. Fox Chase Cancer Center

A cancer-risk counsel will discuss risk factors for breast & ovarian cancer plus benefits & limitations of available screening methods. Learn how pregnancy history, hormone use, diet & other factors may be related to these cancers. Learn the cancer patterns within your family & ways to reduce risk. Counselor will also provide information on clinical studies for high-risk women & genetic testing options. Eligible women and men must be at least 18 years old & have one first degree or second degree relative with breast or ovarian cancer on either side of the family (includes mother, sister, child, grandmother or aunt).
